Chief Instructor - Keith Hipkiss
Keith has trained in different styles of martial arts for many years, having trained with some excellent Instructors in the West Midland and the North, dedicating the majority of his training to Kickboxing, however, having trained at a number of clubs over the years in various styles Keith has had many good experiences and some bad experiences but this has helped him to become the grounded instructor he is today, he doesnt profess to have trained with the monks in Tibet or hold grades in every martial arts style on the planet, but he does take what he teaches and practises very seriously and has a real passion for what he does.
Keith ensures his students fully understand the techniques he teaches and how to use them effectively, the club teaches students in a relaxed,safe and friendly environment.
Keiths BJJ Instructor and Master is Professor Jose Marcello F Rodrigues 'Ze Marcello' who is a 4th Dan black belt and previous world BJJ Champion who trained under Sergio 'Bolao' Souza.
Ze Marcello was born and raised in Rio DeJaneiro, Brazil and has competed in the most prestigious BJJ tournaments in the worl and is affiliated with the world famous Brazillian Top Team.
Warrior Martial Arts became affiliated with the Ze Marcello BJJ Association and Team Icon in 2012. www.iconbjj.co.uk.
Assistant Instructor and Club Secretary - Mandy Rowles
Mandy set up the club in 2009 and helps to teach both the Juniors and Adult Kickboxers.
Having trained at clubs in the West Midlands and North West, she has taken what she has learned and has established a club that has the right attitude and all the required equipment a beginner or advanced student would need.
Mandy practises under the instruction Keith Hipkiss and believes that an Instructor should keep themselves fit and healthy so he/she can regularly train with the students and not just teach them, Mandy says 'an able bodied Instructor should always be prepared to put their gloves on and get on the mats and demonstrate combinations, skills and sparring techniques.
Mandy holds qualifications in sports nutrition and fitness and provides dietry advise and specific programmes that help the students and fighters reach their training and fitness goals as well as providing students with diet plans to help reduce body fat and gain lean muscle.
Assistant Instructor - Andrew Walsh
Andrew was the first official member of Warrior Martial Arts since 2009 and has trained hard to become one of the most respected senior students and Assistant Instructors at the club.
With no real previous experience Andrew started training with Keith prior to the opening of the club and transformed his life around, giving up smoking and changing his eating habbits, within 18 months Andrew had lost over 7 stone and was training to compete in the WAKO British Championships where he took silver against the reigning British Champion, since then Andrew has gone onto compete in MMA competitions and The British Kickboxing Open.
Andrew trains regularly in kickboxing, BJJ and MMA and helps with both the Juniors and Adults classes,he is well respected by all our students and is an inspiration to everyone, showing us all that you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it and work hard.
The club is very proud to have him on the team.
Andrew Nolan - Qualified Gym Instructor and Assistant Instructor
Andrew has been apart of the club since 2010 and holds an Active IQ 3 Certificate in Fitness Instruction and is an Active IQ level 3 Personal Trainer, Andrew regularly helps with the gym programmes and warm ups to ensure that our students train safely and effectively according to their fitness and ability.
Andrew helps Mandy provide the students and Fighters with diet programmes with a wealth of understanding of nutrition, stretching techniques and body mechanics.
Andrew trains on a regular basis at the club and also helps to coach the wrestling team at Liverpool University, Andrew himself is an accomplished fighter having entered varios Kickboxing Competitions and MMA tournements with a number of wins under his belt, Andy also competes in Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu and won Silver at his first competition in July 2012 at the ICON BJJ Cup, he is an excellent role model to our Junior Students and continues to inspire and encourage the Junior students with his drive and 'can do' attitude.
